Feeler for interest in B/A - B/S ficathon

I have no business doing this as my participation in the past three ficathon type things I was in has been so harried and kinda craptastic, and I haven't even read the IWRY Marathon entries yet! But I figure it's alright as I'm just casing your interest...Actually sign ups won't take place until February or so (only if there is enough interest). Enough excuses! Here is my idea for the ficathon:

This ficathon wouldn't be for everyone. It would be for people who identify as primarily Buffy/Angel fans or Buffy/Spike fans. NB: I don't mean for people who only identify that way; for instance, I "identify" as a B/Aer, but I do love me my Angel/Spike and Buffy/Faith and Buffy/Connor and Angel/Wesley and so on, and I have read an enjoyed a number of Buffy/Spike fics. But if you ask me what my favorite 'ship is in the 'verse, I'd definitely say B/A. So ends the explanation of who this ficathon would be for, and the rest of you can stop reading.

The idea behind the ficathon is that all the people who identify as B/Aers would try to write a quality B/S fic, and all the people who identify as B/Sers would try to write a quality B/A fic. I was thinking that if there were around an even number of B/Aers and B/Sers, each B/Aer could get partnered to a B/Ser. These "partnerships" could mean various things, something as traditional as each partner makes requests and the other has to write to one of their requests*, or maybe the partners could kind of discuss their ideas and process as they write.

Up for bid

[info]sweptawaybayou's friend Renee and her six kids recently lost everything in a fire (article here, further details also at [info]fire_fic). To help them out, Snow and [info]lostakasha are running the comm [info]fire_fic, where you can bid on authors to get them to write a fic of your choice, or you can offer yourself up to write something.

I'm doing both. If there's something you want me to write or work on, my info is here. I'm offering up anything, from working on WIPs to writing for smaller/obscure fandoms or fandoms I've never written in before.

Go take a look at the authors offering themselves up at [info]fire_fic, see if there's anything you're interested in, if there's anything you can offer to create, and if you feel like helping someone out. It's a beautiful thing going down there.

Fic Meme

I have no idea why I want so badly to do this meme all of a sudden. Possibly because I am writing two fics right now I never, ever thought I'd write. And I want to hide from them some more.

Name or describe a few fics you think I will never, ever write. In return, I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them.

P.s. Yes, I am sick! But getting better.

Big Pimpin' Pity Party

So this is something I've been wanting to do for a while now, and I hope y'all will all join in...

In comments to this post:
1. Pimp the story whose feedback most disappointed you. I don't mean your best story, or your worst story, or the story you guess could've been better. And I don't mean the story that got the least feedback. I mean the story that you thought would get more feedback, or felt should get more fb. The story for which you only got 2 reviews, and hoped you'd get 5, or the story you hoped would get 500, and only got 200. Even the story you wrote just so fandom would notice you--you included assbabies and kittens, just for those extra reviews--and then zada, zero, nil. Or 500, but not 20,000. Or even the one that got satisfying amounts of fb, but that you thought the Clem fans would flock to and the Clem fans ignored.
1a. Post a link to that story.
1b. Why’d you think it’d get more fb? What did you expect to appeal to and didn’t? Don’t be embarrassed to say how badass it was.
1c. Why d’you think it didn’t get that fb? Don’t be too proud to whine, complain, or feel sorry for yourself. Happens to the best of us, baby.

If you want:
2. Pimp a story by someone else you feel should’ve gotten more fb. Whether it’s a story you beta’ed, saw on your flist, or just randomly found. Again, not so much The Best Story Ever, as The Really Great Story No One Else Knows About.
2a. post a link or where to find the story.
2b. tell us about the praise/appeal of the story.
2c. tell us how under appreciated this person/story is.

3. Pimp this post. If there’s a lot, maybe I can compile and post a list of Unappreciated Gems Of Fandom, Which You Should Have Loved . . . For These Reasons.

Pimp yourself. Throw yourself a pity party. Ask why no one loved you. Or at least that one fic. I’m serious, here. Everyone has a fic they secretly cherish and feel sorry for, and occasionally pet with sparkly tears in their eyes . . . even if they never felt like they could ask the world why their little woobie story was so unloved. Now's your chance.

Pimp others, and offer them your hand so we can skip through the sunshine. Yes I am a fluffy mushlet; I don't care.

Pantyfan

pantyfan

:
a fan who wets his/her panties over the person or persons after which they fan. (Not a derogatory term.)

1. "omg omg omg i love you omg omg i want to have your babies omg," the pantyfan said.
2. noun: David Boreanaz has many pantyfans.
verb: Lots of people pantyfan Spike.

I personally believe this term is actually more useful than "fangirl" and "fanboy", because it's all gender inclusive, and because the word itself shows the craziness of the obsession. The origin of the term can be found in this podcast, if you listen to minutes 3.12 through 8.34. Just because she's my best friend in the whole world doesn't mean she doesn't get a good idea from time to time.

There are subdivisions of the word, as described in the podcast:
bloomer fan, cotton pantyfan, boxers fan, thong fan

Pantyfan, illustrated, totally stealable and without credit, because no one cares, as long as you teach a penguin to say pantyfan:

Pimp, Señora.
