sweptawaybayou's friend Renee and her six kids recently lost everything in a fire (article here, further details also at fire_fic). To help them out, Snow and lostakasha are running the comm fire_fic, where you can bid on authors to get them to write a fic of your choice, or you can offer yourself up to write something.

I'm doing both. If there's something you want me to write or work on, my info is here. I'm offering up anything, from working on WIPs to writing for smaller/obscure fandoms or fandoms I've never written in before.

Go take a look at the authors offering themselves up at fire_fic, see if there's anything you're interested in, if there's anything you can offer to create, and if you feel like helping someone out. It's a beautiful thing going down there.
